NeoStat® VXi ESD Vinyl Interlocking Tiles
Superior ESD Interlocking Floor Tiles which test as well as a permanent ESD floor installation. NeoStat® VXi vinyl interlocking tiles are ideal for a quick installation, require little or no floor preparation and where there may be a requirement to relocate the floor at a later date.
VXi vinyl interlocking tiles are well specified for the primary grounding of personnel and equipment, controlling body voltages to less than 100V.
Resistance to ground (Rg) is below 1.0 x 106 meaning this material is considered conductive. If working on live high voltage equipment, additional precautions may need to be taken.
The tile has an overall thickness of 10mm, comprising a 2mm thick conductive surface and an 8mm thick conductive honeycomb backing which gives it its strength. The interlocking feature is concealed under the tile so the finished floor is free from visible joins.
Apart from producing low body voltage levels when used in conjunction with an approved foot grounding method (typically 20 volts), VXi vinyl interlocking tiles have excellent properties and characteristics which make it suitable for use in the electronics industry:
- Excellent ESD performance compared to other interlocking tiles
- Simple to fit without adhesive
- Minimal floor preparation required
- Can be taken up and re-used
- Low maintenance costs
- Resistance to heavy point loads
Typical applications in the electronics industry include:
- R & D laboratories
- Storage areas
- Raised access areas
- Production and assembly areas
- Data centres
- Repair workshops
- Areas where heavy equipment will be used, such as FLTs
Installation
Where the existing floor condition permits, VXi vinyl ESD interlocking floor tiles can be laid directly onto a grid of copper earthing strips with no requirement for adhesive. This can be carried out by the customer, although we would normally recommend installation by our own installers.
Where the customer requests installation by SSE, if required an initial survey will be undertaken by SSE’s engineers to assess the site conditions and advise on any necessary preparatory work.
Finally, the floor is linked to an earth connection point which also serves as an ESD floor test point.
Following a VXi floor installation carried out by SSE’s installers, the installation will be thoroughly tested to check its performance and issue a Certificate of Conformance to confirm it complies with the requirements of IEC 61340-5-1.
